Congratulations to Dan Crofts on his fine new publication: the chapter “Joseph Holt, James Buchanan, and the Secession Crisis,” in John W. Quist and Michael J. Birkner, eds.,  “James Buchanan and the Coming of the Civil War”  (University Press of Florida, 2013).

Congratulations to Dr. Jo-Ann Gross, Professor of History, who has been inducted as an honorary foreign member into the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan.

 


Congratulations to Dr. Jo-Ann Gross for the publication of the Tajik translation of her book (co-authored with Asom Urunbaev), The Letters of Khwaja ‘Ubayd Allah Ahrar and His Associates (Brill
Publishers 2002): Murosaloti Khoja Ubaydullohi Ahror va Atrofiyoni.
 


On November 10th, the “Understanding Modern Iran” course visited the art exhibitions at the Princeton University Museum and Paul Robeson Gallery in Princeton, which were part of the Fertile Crescent: Gender, Art and Society Series. Students took special interest in the Iranian artists and their works. Two students ended up choosing to focus on contemporary Iranian art for their final projects.
